Locations and Flights
Dr Dave works two and a half days a week at Bulls Medical Centre and the rest doing Aviation Medicine for the Bulls Fying Doctor Service.
Dr Dave visits several remote airstrips every month on a regular schedule of flights: "deep south" the first week of every month (Southland, Wanaka, Mount Cook, West Coast), the east coast of the North Island on the second week and the north end of the South Island (Blenheim, Motueka) on the third week - In reality the north end of the south island is done twice a month as urgent medicals can be done while transiting deep south on the first week of each month.
The Bulls Flying Doctor Service started with it's first base and hangar facility at RNZAF Base Ohakea but with the rapid demand for it's service we now have a purpose built aviation medical centre complete with hangar facilities for our helicopter and aircraft as well as an examination room, admin offices and a full audio visual unit to allow for conferences and lecturing students in aviation medicine at Massey University.
